Technician Training Our technicians receive intense on-the-job training, including basic diesel engine theory, bookwork, video, benchwork study and performance evaluations. After a period of initial study and on-going job performance, our technicians attend OEM factory sponsored training schools on various diesel products for detailed schooling of particular service issues by the original equipment manufacturers.

Accomplished technicians are then eligible to take a series of independent tests to evaluate their competence in chosen fields of practice. This battery of tests, called Tech-CERT, was written in conjunction with the Association of Diesel Specialists (ADS) and National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE).

The tests are administered by American College Testing (ACT) twice annually at numerous designated testing sites around the country.

Once a technician meets all pre-requisites for testing and passes the particular Tech-CERT test, he becomes a CERTIFIED technician in this particular field.

If the technician passes all six in the complete battery, he will then become certified as a Master Technician. (The tests are valid for a period of 5 years.)
